QiGong und TaiJiQuan

QiGong - The Centre and the Means of Traditional Chinese Medicine

QiGong is the integrative and active method of Traditional Chinese Medicine. QiGong is the interaction of body (movement), breathing (metabolism) and mind (perception).  Medical QiGong according to the LaoShan Centre is based on the basic knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including meridian teachings, Five Elements teachings and TaiJi philosophy.

Everyone has Qi, everyone can activate Qi and use it effectively. It does not matter which series of exercises one performs to achieve medical effects, what is important is how one performs them. However, certain exercise series developed for illnesses favour the prevention and therapy of a certain illness. In QiGong there are numerous exercise series that can be roughly categorised as Silent QiGong, Moving QiGong, Traditional QiGong, Academic QiGong and Meditative QiGong.

TaiJiQuan - The shaped way of demonstrating TaiJi

In TaiJiQuan, movements are strung together to create a flowing and continuous choreography. The movements are partly derived from fighting techniques, but also from observations and imitations from the animal and natural world. TaiJiQuan owes its name to the omnipresent TaiJi philosophy. TaiJiQuan has many fathers, and this is the only way to explain the fact that there are numerous forms, all of which can be categorised as TaiJiQuan. One can distinguish between academic, sporting and family-traditional forms. The Yang, Chen, Wu and Sun styles belong to the family-traditional forms. Most followers are found in the Yang style, although here too there are different types of versions.

The academic TaiJiQuan of the LaoShan Centre has its focus on life care and traditional Chinese medicine. The main guideline and goal of TaiJiQuan is not fighting, but, as in QiGong, to create harmony between body, breathing and mind. The movement sequences are supple, elastic and adaptable to the respective stage of life.
