The water next to the Heiligenwasser chapel in Lichtenau im Mühlkreis has healing powers and is very popular with guests and locals alike!
The first chapel was built around 1250 and the present one has its origins around 1470.
Next to the chapel is a well that is supplied with water from the spring that lies above the well. Compared to many other springs, this one still has its original healing power.
When a place, a church or, as in this case, the spring is named after saints or All Saints, this indicates an energy that heals everything and brings healing for all illnesses. The chapel is 3.5 km from Haslach - in the direction of Hörleinsödt. The hiking trail "Tanzbodenweg" leads directly past the chapel.
The following legend is told about this spring:
Many years ago, when people were walking from Haslach to Multerberg in Bohemia, they passed a certain place where they heard voices and heard singing, but could not see anyone. As soon as they had passed, the voices and singing fell silent. The Leitenmüller had a chapel built on this spot. Since then, the mysterious voices have fallen silent. The chapel, which had fallen into disrepair since the 1940s, was restored by the Belgian and French prisoners of war out of gratitude for having survived the war in good health. Next to the chapel, a well casing was built from rough hewn stones, but the water is supplied from the spring that lies above the well.
Can be visited from the outside at any time.
