In honor of the greates poet of the Bohemian Forest area 1876-1877 a memorial was built at the Plöckenstein lake.
The 15 meters high obelisk is made out of granite and can only be reached on foot. Walking distance from the parking lot in Oberschwarzenberg is 2 hours. If you want to hike to the Plöckenstein lake, which is approx. half an hour further along, you will need a passport.
