0 km You start the hike at the Aigen-Schlägl market square in Waldgasse. Walk through the avenue and then follow the Höhenstraße, which leads up to Grünwald. Shortly after the sign at the end of the village, turn right onto the forest path, pass the mill wheel and reach the Michaelsquelle. There is a Kneipp basin below. 4.5 km Oberhaag (836 m). Schwedenschanze - fortification, probably built in 1469. It was intended to protect against invasions by soldiers from Bohemia and Swedish troops. Above the Landhotel Haagerhof, turn right in the direction of Bayrische Au, follow a short stretch of field path that leads into a forest road and then into a forest path and after

7.0 km approx. three quarters of an hour you reach Iglbach-Doppelbrücke. The alluvial canal was restored to its original form at this point. Schauschwemmen take place here during the summer months. You can find out the dates at www.boehmerwald.at. Follow the alluvial canal for a short distance and turn right down the forest path. Now follow the beautiful forest paths towards Bayrische Au. Follow the signs and the red-white-red markings until you reach the

10.8 km Naturerlebnisweg Bayrische Au (720 m). The Bayrische Au is one of the oldest Šumava raised bogs and also the only spirken raised bog in Upper Austria. The Vltava reservoir reaches right up to the border here. A short distance back on the forest road and on to the

12.6 km tarmac road that leads from Oberhaag to the border. Continue left, after approx. 200 metres turn right again onto the forest road and after a short ascent you will reach the Schwemmkanalstraße again. Turn right here and you will come to the reconstructed

14.3 km Schrollenbach lock (800 m). Schauschwemmen in the summer months. After approx. 150 m you leave the canal. Turn left onto the forest road, which climbs slightly uphill and takes you to the

15.0 km division of the hiking trails Schwemmkanalrunde and Waldsteig after a short section of forest. Here you have the option of shortening the Waldsteig and hiking along the Schwemmkanalweg to Oberhaag and on to Aigen-Schlägl. Follow trail no. 40 and walk uphill through the beautiful high forest

18.0 km to Bärenstein (1077 m) with magnificent views of the Vltava reservoir and across the Bohemian Forest. Now it's a leisurely descent to

19.5 km Grünwald (950 m), a former woodcutters' settlement. Walk parallel to Bärensteinrunde no. 41 until you reach the crossroads in the forest. Take the path to the right and reach the

20.3 km Hochbuchet (920 m) - magnificent views. In the documents of Schlägl Abbey, it is reported that large pilgrimages took place here between 1762 and 1775. Continue downhill to the

20.9 km detour Liebesfelsen, which you can reach in 5 minutes and which is worthwhile because of the beautiful view to the west. Back again, follow the markings that lead you downhill, crossing several forest roads. Pass the robbers' cave, which is difficult to recognise in the dense bushes, and cross the asphalt road at the
