Beautiful hike with mesmerising views of the picturesque landscape of the Bohemian Forest vacation area and Germany!

Surefootedness and good shoes required!

0 km You start the hike at the Pendelin car park in Oberschwarzenberg (P1 - subject to a charge!) and follow the yellow trail sign indicating Dreisesselberg via Witikosteig. Shortly afterwards, cross the border stream at Furth (border to Bavaria). From now on, you will be accompanied by the Bavarian trail markings (green signposts). You come to a forest road and continue along it. After 600 m, leave it and join the forest path on the right. Now continue uphill, crossing several forest roads, on beautiful forest paths until you reach ...

3.2 km ... you come to a fork (here you do not go in the direction of the Dreisesselberg car park). Keep to the right and after about 700 m join the asphalt road that leads up to the ...

4.4 km ... Dreisessel shelter. Ascent to the Dreisessel rock (1312 m): According to legend, the Dreisessel got its name from the kings of the three countries, who are said to have once conferred up here, sitting on rock chairs. Take the 15-minute detour to the Hochstein (1332 m). The observer is offered a magnificent view of the mountains of the Bavarian Forest and above all into the Czech Republic. Back at the Dreisessel Schutzhaus, walk back about 400 m on the asphalt road and overlook the ...

5.8 km ... turnoff to the left to the Steinernes Meer. On a beautiful forest path over ...

8.0 km ... Roots and stones, the path climbs gently and flatly to the Steinernes Meer. The strange rock formations are the result of weathering and leave a fascinating impression. The largest width is 250 m and the length about 400 m. Enjoy the wonderful view into the wide countryside, in good weather even as far as the Alps. Downhill, always following the signs, you cross the ...

9.4 km ... Border stream. Now you are again accompanied by the yellow signposts, where you take the path to Oberschwarzenberg car park. A steep, stony trail of about 25 minutes leads you downhill ...

11.7 km ... to the starting point.
