Excerpt from the notice in front of the Michaelskapelle:
This chapel here on the 748 m high Michaelsberg, which belongs to the village of Krien, was built around 1800 as a massive stone masonry structure. However, it can be assumed that a much older place of worship existed before this building, because the Michaelsberg - like the Eckartsberg ("Tanzboden") and the Maria Trost-Berg - was already considered a place of worship and sacrifice by the Germanic tribes during the settlement period 1000 years ago - as legends tell us.
Open all year round.
