The Gardens of Schlägl Abbey - Founder's Garden - Creation Garden - Relationship Path
In the footsteps of the poet - Stiftergarten
To mark the 200th anniversary of Adalbert Sftifter's birth, the garden directly adjacent to the monastery was newly created in 2005. Plants and elements of the Bohemian Forest - water, granite, trees, shrubs, heathland, flowers and herbs form the focus of the design. The various plants are explained with descriptions by Adalbert Stifter. In addition, their functions and uses, e.g. in medicine or in the kitchen, are described. A labyrinth invites visitors to silence and meditation.
The Stifter Park is a place of relaxation for visitors and encourages them to stay. Reading places and listening stations round off the reference to Adalbert Stifter.

The Garden of Creation
In the seven-part "Garden of Creation", the biblical narrative of the creation of the world is presented. The highlight is the seventh day, the day of rest and recuperation. Those who leave the Garden of Creation enter the "Path of Responsibility". This points to personal fundamental decisions that have an impact on creation. Submit or respect? Destroy or transform? To harden or to reverse? Every human being has the choice. On panels there are impulse texts, Bible verses, quotations from "Laudato si" and questions that stimulate reflection.
Relationship path - On the way to PAARadies
In Schlägl Abbey, in the spirit of sustainability of the State Garden Show 2019, the area was supplemented with the newly constructed "Relationship Path".
In June 2020, the new themed path: "On the way to PAARadies" was built in the island garden and vis-à-vis the Creation Garden along the Grosse Mühl "Visitors are invited to pursue your couple relationship and feel that you are being carried along by the flow of life," says Abbot Lukas Dikany.
The relationship path invites you to linger. At the seven stations - fellowship, strengthening, reconciliation, healing, love, faithfulness and blessing - visitors can be inspired for the success of a relationship. "The longing for a good, deep and fulfilling relationship with one's partner can be inwardly pursued here," says Abbot Lukas Dikany.
Only accessible in the summer months.
Can be walked on independently.
