Ahorn 34, 4183 Traberg
The castle Piberstein is first documented in the 12th century. It is located in the municipality of Ahorn - between Helfenberg and Traberg. The castle was saved from decay in time and the cultural association Piberstein (Karl Danzer, chairman, Hermann Eckerstorfer, secretary) has made a voluntary task to preserve the castle. Meanwhile, the old walls are well renovated and radiates a beautiful ambience.
The approximately 80 exhibitors are housed at the castle entrance and inside the castle. The craftsmen exhibit their products and offer them for sale. As far as possible, work is also being done and, above all, old craft is shown, e.g. Spinning on a spinning wheel, tying brooms, weaving baskets, making wooden shoes, displaying monastic works, painting watercolor paintings ... .. the Piberstein Castle will enliven visitors.
On Saturday at 13.30 the Tanzlmusi from St. Stefan will play. On Sunday morning, the band from Traberg marches in and arranges the morning pint, at 13.30 the Ahorner play. In between, the folk dance group from Traberg will be dancing. Culinary Clemens Dollhäubl (Ziegelstadl) provides visitors with specialties from the Mühlviertel and for sweet hunger there are homemade pastries and farmer's donuts.
All diligent helpers work on a voluntary basis and the net profit flows into the further renovation of the Piberstein Castle.
