Stahlmühle 3, 4170 Haslach an der Mühl
Manufaktur Haslach is a socio-economic enterprise where various felted products, yarns, fabrics, blankets and carpets are made from the wool produced by regional sheep farmers.
Manager of the enterprise is the association "Alom", an initiative for working and learning in the Upper Mühlviertel.
Manufaktur Haslach was founded in 1990 with the intention to take the wool from regional sheep farmers, and process it in a place rich in textile history. Since then, felt and carded wool yarn has been produced from Merino sheep of the Mühlviertel and other middle European breeds of sheep. Great importance is placed on the timeless quality and solid design of the products which are mostly produced in small series. Hammer fulling machine, sowing room, spinning mill and weaving machines in house make for a continuous and transparent production chain.
The variety of steps in the production from raw material to the finished article is an important component of the social responsibility that Manufaktur Haslach embraces. 12 people are given a sponsored workplace, social support and the opportunity for further individual education. Manufaktur Haslach is located in the complex of the historical factory building and is part of the Textile Centre Haslach. A guided tour gives insight into the manufacturing chain from raw wool to a finished quality product.
