Knotting with old clothes

Haslach an der Mühl, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Workshop Amish Rugs with Doro Seror

In this workshop we turn old clothes into objects of art and utility.   We learn the so-called "Amish Rug Weaving" method. In this method, the work is created by a series of knots around a guide thread - it is therefore a knotting technique. This results in very stable workpieces that are well suited for use. This method requires hardly any additional equipment, making it very mobile and a great activity when travelling.
We will primarily focus on making round objects such as rugs and three-dimensional objects such as cushions and balls. Please bring discarded clothing and textiles - we only need jersey fabrics such as T-shirts, leggings, sheets and the like.
