Hand screen printing on fabric
Workshop with Cecile Belmont

How can an idea be printed on fabric using simple means? How does hand screen printing work?
During this weekend we will learn the steps of manual screen printing on fabric: direct printing with stencils, making a template, preparing the screen, exposing the screen and printing on the fabric. This course aims to impart the know-how for manual screen printing without and with exposure and to awaken the joy of creative experimentation. We will explore the possibilities and limitations of this craft technique in order to realise our own fabric designs. The necessary templates are designed and prepared by hand from paper. Using silhouettes, collages, drawings, etc., we will create colourful or detailed, abstract or figurative motifs, which will then be printed in small editions on fabric and textiles brought along.
At the end of the course, those who are interested can purchase a squeegee and screen from the course instructor at a reasonable price so that they can continue printing on their own.
