Textile origami experiments
Basic knowledge and further techniques are taught

The course starts with basic knowledge of paper folding, e.g. simple basic folds, reading the folding script, folding simple models, as well as a little material science about papers and textiles that are suitable for this technique.
We will then delve into surface design techniques that form the basis of paper folding and realise simple models in textile materials. A geometric division of a surface into a network of lines, which becomes a three-dimensional structure through the placement of mountain and valley folds, so-called "tessellations", can serve as the basis for a hand pleated blind. The pleats can be fixed by ironing or sewing, and different materials can be used to explore three-dimensionality and shadow effects. Folding patterns have a completely different effect on textiles than on paper and invite experimentation.
