AN Impressive Stone scenery as place for a rest...Crossing the stone scenery of „Steinernes Meer“ (stone sea) you might wonder about its origins. Our region predominantly comprises of granite. At one time, in the Palaeozoic era, it was a huge mountain range with summits of heights up to 5,000 m. As a result of erosion, the former high mountains were reduced. Due to permafrost and erosion of tiny stone components, the rock stacks occured. We suggest you take some time to relax in this idyllic resting place and enjoy the view of our regions’s wonderful scenery. It is possible to reach "Steinernes Meer" either from Oberschwarzenberg in Austria or from "Dreisesselberg" in Germany. |
