ANCIENT FORTIFICATION "SCHEWEDENSCHANZE"

This ancient fortification was discovered as a result of archaeological excavations. At some points it is still 3.5 m high. The likely date of this late-medieval fortification is 1469 and it was built as protection against the Hussites, Swedes and Turks, having space for up to 4,000 men. From the Gasthof Haagerhof in Oberhaag it takes you just a few minutes to reach the fortification „Schwedenschanze".
