HISTORYThe village of Berg (in former times "Perg") is first mentioned in records in 1231. A castle was built on the top of the hill. After the Perger the Röder dynasty settled in Berg, built up a new castle and let the original one expire.
Nowadays one tower and parts of the outer wall from the ancient castle still remain.
Further information about the village of Berg bei Rohrbach. At the time of the Thirty Years's War Wolf Dietrich von Rödern vowed that he would build up a church in the honour of the Virgin Mother if they only were spared by the Swedens. This pilgrimage church exists since 1655. |
