The Bohemian Forest is the central point of our holiday region "Ferienregion Böhmerwald" and creates a picturesque and perfect countryside for recreation.

Our location on the border triangle of Bavaria (Germany)/South Bohemia (Czech Republic)/UPPER AUSTRIA (Austria) is a very special feature of our region. There is the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities, from exciting hiking and bicycle experiences amidst unspoilt and impressive scenery, as well as the contrasting cultures and different culinary highlights in these three countries. The Bohemian Forest is one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe and was formed 600 million years ago. The mountain massif extends from Bavaria in Germany and South Bohemia in the Czech Republic to Austria. For historical reasons, the Bohemian and German sides have different names: in the Czech Republic the woodlands are called Šumava and in Bavaria "Bayerischer Wald".
